Almost There!

So it's been a hot minute since i wrote a blog post so i thought as we are coming to end of term why not write a little something to sum this term up.

I personally am so proud of myself for actually getting on with M2 this term. It's taken me two years to finally complete it due to being overwhelmed with tour life and trying to find the perfect balance between performing and studying. I know the pandemic has been hard for us all especially the theatre industry but without it happening i probably wouldn't have completed M2 (i'm just being honest!)

I've decided to hand in all my work a week before the deadline as i start rehearsals next week for a show called C-O-N-T-A-C-T which will be showing in Manchester!!! i was fortunate enough to be involved with this show last year in summer 2020. It's an outdoor socially distant show and it is BRILLIANT (if i say so myself!)

I've really enjoyed having something to focus on these past months and really dig my teeth into. Finding my question was the hardest part for me as i really didn't know what i wanted to research. I had to make sure i was interested enough to actually put the work in. However once i knew what i wanted to study everything else just seemed to fall into place. Casting has been such a hot topic this past year especially within theatre so it only seemed natural to base my degree on that, as it effects myself and my professional practice.

Learning new terms like Methodology, triangulation, qualitative research, non - positivist have been exciting but also a struggle! However it's made me realise that you're never too old to learn and grow! Yes there have been some really difficult times where i wanted to give up but i made a promise to myself at the beginning of the year to get M2 DONE! I've realised there is no such thing as failure just lessons. No such thing as rejection just redirection!

So bring on the rest of 2021! Here's to new beginnings!

Until next time
