How to write with Peter Thomas ALSO learning how to learn
So on wednesday 14th of October i joined a skype call with Peter Thomas and he discussed how to start writing.
He broke it down into three easy steps:
Generate
- Don't worry about the reader too much. list, discate, mind map, free writing.
Organise
- find themes, group ideas, use colours, map relationship between ideas.
Present
- proofread, how does it sound?, think about the reader.
He said there are three basic steps to follow.
Write - Review - Rewrite
Peter said we should find the best toolbox that works best for us, then build an endurance to carry it out.
Overall it was a great lecture and it made me feel a little bit more confident in my writing abilities.
What i have been struggling with is how to research. Which might sound stupid or obvious to other people, but with myself it has been a struggle. I don't want to waste time reading loads of different things i do not need to read, however this has resulted in me not reading much at all and not feeling confident in what i am saving and writing down.
If i am being honest i have spent the past two weeks not doing anything or very little because i lost all my confidence in this module again. The difference this time around is that i know exactly what i need to do and how i can achieve it, i'm just struggling getting started and pushing through the difficult moments when doing this.
I am going to spend today mapping out what i need to achieve and i am going to set myself deadlines so that i can give myself the best chance to achieve these goals.
Until next time
CG xoxo
